Frequently asked questions
Why is a profile photo required?
SocialMama is a community of women who meet in person. Your photo is the main assurance that there is a real person on the other side. That is why the app cannot be used without a profile photo. The requirements for the photo are described in the Terms of Service, section 12.
Why do I have to share my location?
The search sorts profiles by proximity — without a location the app cannot work. Your precise GPS coordinates are not stored by us. They are converted into an approximate area on your device before they ever leave it. The details are in the Terms of Service, section 14.
What do the green and red statuses mean?
Green “Free for walks” shows that you are open to contact or meeting right now. Red “Just browsing” shows the opposite. The status is a social signal, not a promise — you can change it at any time and you owe no one an explanation.
Is private chat moderated?
Private messages are not reviewed by our team except when a report is received. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Access by staff or processors to message content is restricted and permitted only when necessary to handle a report, for security, on reasonable suspicion of abuse, under a legal obligation, or at the request of a competent authority.
Does deleting the app delete my account?
No. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. See how to delete your account.
Does the app provide medical advice?
No. SocialMama is not a medical, psychological, advisory, or emergency service and is not a medical device. The content in the app does not replace a consultation with a doctor, midwife, psychologist, or other specialist. For a medical question or risk, please turn to the relevant specialist.
